Summary

This article focuses on ways to improve employee engagement. The article suggests that when organizations assess employee engagement, they are essentially exploring the factors that motivate employees, give their employees voice, and communicate organizational values based on what is measured. In addition, the article presents several cultural norms that can improve employee engagement. Specifically, organizations are advised to focus on employee training and development in order to promote fulfillment and growth. In addition, the article recommends fostering a culture of inclusion, belonging, and togetherness that encourages team cohesiveness. Organizations are also advised to provide employees with competitive compensation, feedback, and recognition, and emphasizing transparency by clearly communicating values. Lastly, organizations should trust employees and empower them to make decisions, giving them autonomy in their work roles, as this will develop confidence and leadership.
